This year marks the 10th anniversary of Journal of Community Medicine and Health Education (eISSN: 2161-0711). The journal was originally founded as a collaborative effort of innumerable authors, anonymous peer reviewers and editors, as well as the continuous support of our readers, that has led us to where we are now. In 2008 the journal started publishing highlights of the best materials research produced in the world wide, and has since evolved into a full scientific open-access journal.

The journal is extremely privileged to have Prof. Norio Kagawa as its Editor-in-Chief, leading the board of academic editorial panel. The journal expresses appreciation for professional execution of his responsibilities which include spearheading the overall editorial activity of the journal and gaining commercial acclaim in open access publishing in addition to coining the special issue themes and guiding the compilation and production of special issues and titles as per the contemporary information demands.

Ten years ago we launched this journal based on the simple premise that authors wanted their articles to “be free, be everywhere, be forever”. The advent of the internet made it possible to be “everywhere,” while the emergence of the concept of open access allowed us to be “free” by allowing completely unrestricted access to every article. Today, as we look back over our first decade, we see that our premise was correct. In a short time, the journal has risen from nothing to become a leading publication in vision science. Numbers for submissions, publications, internet access, downloads, and citations all have reached remarkable levels and continue to increase. We thank all the authors who have powered this amazing trajectory. With the 10th anniversary we have prepared several innovations that will hopefully engage the materials science community and further reinvigorate the journal.

The Advisory Board of the journal will be renewed with active members working across the main fields of materials science. Prof. Norio Kagawa is currently working as Associate Professor, Nagoya University School of Medicine, Japan. Dr Kagawa obtained doctorate with study of cytochrome P450s working with Dr Ryo Sato Osaka University who discovered P450. He has nearly two decades of professional experience in the field of diabetes metabolism. His core research interests include steroidogenic P450s, Medical Health, general internal medicine.

Journal of Community Medicine and Health Education is proud to have Prof. Dimitrios L. Kalpaxis, Department of Biochemistry, School of Medicine, University of Patras, Greece. His interest and admiration regarding journal as an open access publication brand are highly appreciated and we hope to grow as a team. He is a member of the editorial board of the journal & and member of 6 scientific societies.
